Brittingham Park
On Thursday, August 30th, the Department of History is hosting a Welcome Picnic. The event takes place at Brittingham Park, located at 829 W Washington Avenue in Madison, Wisconsin. The theme of the gathering is new beginnings, delicious food, and time well spent. This event is open to students, faculty, and community members. To RSVP to the event, please visit the Department of History’s website. Also, don’t forget to bring your lawn chairs and blankets!
Boathouse
The proposed playground plans for the Boathouse at Brittingham Park Washington Avenue have raised concerns about unintended consequences in the Bayview neighborhood. The park is centrally located in the city, close to many people with disabilities. The playground’s design seeks to be accessible to all users. However, the project’s location on a former marsh is problematic. It will be moved to a more secure location and renovated. Click the Following Link!
The Madison Boathouse was constructed in the early 1920s by the Madison Park and Pleasure Drive Association, with funds donated by lumberman Thomas E. Brittingham. The park also included a large bathhouse on the west side. In the early 1920s, the Madison Boathouse received a wing for more storage space. The Wisconsin Historical Society commissioned architect George B. Ferry to design the building, which he later demolished.
Hmong elders
The Department of History will host its first annual welcome picnic Thursday, August 30, at 5:00 PM in Brittingham Park, 829 W Washington Ave, Madison. The picnic is intended to kick off another exciting academic year and will feature delicious food, new beginnings, and time well spent.
