5 Reasons to Visit Korth County Park in Rock Lake, Wisconsin
There are many reasons to visit the 89-acre Korth County Park, which borders Rock Lake. The park features a scenic hill for sledding and running/walking trails. Trails connect to the nearby Glacial Drumlin trail in winter. There are restrooms and a park pavilion for rental during the warmer months. Port-a-potties are available for use at other times. Korth County Park
Located on the shores of Rock Lake, Korth County Park is an 89-acre gem of the region. You can enjoy its sweeping views and relax in its picnic area or on a packed limestone bike trail. In the winter, you can try your hand at cross-country skiing on the groomed trails or ice-skating on the lake. If you’re traveling by car, the park has two entrances: County Road S and County Road V.
Friends group
The Friends group at the beautiful Korth Park in Rock Lake, Wisconsin, is making a difference in the park and its surroundings. This nonprofit group is completing a series of projects at the park, including the completion of the Korth Pavilion. They have also completed fundraising efforts to improve the resources at the nearby Dorothy Carnes County Park. They have also raised money for habitat work at the park, including restoring the old oak savanna.
Osprey
The Osprey at Korth Park in Lake Mills, Wisconsin, has been spotted more than once. Local resident Mike Orcutt has witnessed the bird more than once and has attempted to place a nesting platform near the Rock Lake. He has been in contact with Jefferson County Parks Department and Rock Lake Improvement Association officials to help him find the chick. Brew with a View
If you’re in the mood for a brew, you can’t go wrong with Brew with a View in Lake Mills, Wisconsin. This beer and music festival, which raises funds for the Jefferson County Park System and its partner, Rock River Trail Initiative, is held on the lake’s shoreline. At Brew with a View, live music is offered by local bands, food vendors, and beer and wine tastings. The location is near a mowed trail system and a gravel path that winds around the lake. For those looking for some solitude, the park’s wildlife is an awesome option, too.
Osprey nests
To understand the nature of an osprey nest, you must first understand what an osprey is. These birds are migratory raptors that need a nest site that is relatively open and has a wide base. Nest sites are often built on treetops or on crotches between branches. They can even nest on human-made platforms. Although most nests are constructed of sticks and other natural materials, there are also artificial ones built in the park.
