Memorial Day commemorates the men and women who died while serving their country, particularly those that died in a battle or as a result of wounds sustained in conflict. The purpose of Memorial Day is to spend time remembering those that lost their lives and reflect on their service.
By serving our country, these men and women gave us the freedom we enjoy today. Sometimes called the unofficial start of summer, Memorial Day is more than a neighborhood barbeque and a three day weekend. On most Memorable Days, people visit loved ones at cemeteries, volunteers will decorate parade floats, and children will march in parades.
Most Americans have little connection to the holiday or an understanding of how it began. Even if we don’t have a tie to Memorial Day, take a moment to honor and remember those who have died while serving in our military.
All of us at Madison Window Cleaning are grateful to those who have given their lives for our magnificent country.
