Cambridge is home to CamRock County Park which features a wide variety of trails and places to picnic. The park is a great place to bike and hike and to visit the town’s museums.

Koshkonong Creek
A charming creek that’s cute-as-a-button, Koshkonong runs through the village of Rockdale and CamRock Park. CamRock County Park is home to a hiking trail system, cross-country skiing, and mountain biking trails (including a winter multi-use area).
This trip is perfect for beginners looking for a short jaunt on a quiet creek. It’s a beautiful walk through public land with a lot of tree-canopied intimacy as well as open, rolling hills and steep banks.
The park is maintained by a dedicated crew that clears the area of invasive species and deadfall. The eroding banks along this creek are a bit rocky but navigable and it’s easy to paddle full-steam into the many riffles without needing to portage.
Lake District Preserve
The Lake District Preserve in CamRock County Park along the Koshkonong Creek between the Village of Cambridge and the historic Village of Rockdale offers a wide range of activities and experiences. There are three shelter facilities, hiking, and mountain bike trails, a canoe/kayak launch, a sledding hill, and a natural playground designed by GRG Playscapes. The pristine upland portion of the site is an outstanding example of native tall-grass prairie and has been restored by volunteers through available County funds and private donations, according to LRMD.
The Parks Division operates and maintains over 8400 acres of recreation parks, natural resource areas, forest corridors, historic sites, and trails for the benefit of Dane County residents and visitors. The Parks Division is organized into five work units: visitor services and enforcement, land maintenance and development, adult conservation team, aquatic plant harvesting, and the Lussier Family Heritage Center. The Parks & Open Space Plan is updated every five years to allow the County to qualify for a variety of State and Federal funding programs. Input to the latest update was gathered through six public informational meetings, numerous individual meetings with local units of government, non-profit conservation and recreation organizations, and county committees over a six-month period. Downtown Cambridge
A squiggle of streets stretches along the Choptank River through downtown Cambridge with boutique shops, art galleries, and restaurants anchored by RAR Brewing in an old pool hall and bowling alley. Historic houses and the county courthouse anchor the main street of High Street. A short block of tiny historic homes is known as “lawyers row.”
The town’s two waterfront parks include a municipal yacht basin and Long Wharf Park with a public marina. The town’s historic district is preserved with a number of walking tours led by costumed guides, and several heritage museums and gardens are within a few blocks.
In the heart of downtown is a small museum dedicated to Harriet Tubman (424 Race Street). The best known of the Underground Railroad’s conductors, Tubman was born in Dorchester County and rescued over 70 slaves from the southern states using the nearby marshes of the Blackwater Wildlife Refuge. Her museum tells her story in a former home.
Lake Ripley
The village is a community of citizens that learn from the past, achieve in the present, and envision the future.
Cambridge offers something for everyone; pristine beaches, tennis, and basketball courts, disc golf, a natural playground, and rentable shelters at Lake Ripley Park. The park also features a sledding hill in the winter.
